CBRB Karaganda
Here, the legends of two shepherds — Ethiopian Kaldi and Kazakh Appak — form the basis of the interior, and coffee is roasted right in the room, barrier-free. Signature installations, technologically advanced bean pipes, a refrigeration chamber for rare lots, and an open kitchen are all gathered in a single space, warmed by the signature purple hue of Karaganda's sunrises and sunsets.
A coffee shop, kitchen, and in-house roastery all in one space
CBRB KARAGANDA is the place to come for aromatic coffee, fresh pastries, new flavors, or inspiration.
You can simply have coffee and dessert, or you can linger: watch the beans move through the pipes, observe the roasting machine in operation in the open area, and admire the art installations created specifically for this project.

A city warmed
by coal...
And by coffee
CBRB Karaganda is a stylized coffee production and brewing facility where tradition meets innovation. The project is designed as an open space where every guest can witness the entire coffee cycle — from bean storage to cup.
The concept is based on two legends about shepherds, separated by centuries: the Ethiopian Kaldi, who discovered coffee, and the Kazakh Appak, who gave the country coal. Their stories symbolize the spirit of discovery, the warmth and energy that warm people — be it a campfire in the steppe or a cup of aromatic drink.

Their stories symbolize the spirit of discovery, the warmth and energy that warm people — be it a campfire in the steppe or a cup of aromatic drink.
The project's space is built on the "no boards" concept — there are no glass barriers, and the roasting and kitchen work seamlessly together. The beans move through sealed pipes, rare selections are stored in a dedicated refrigeration chamber, and guests are fully engaged in the process.
The designer interior is complemented by unique art installations created specifically for this project.
Pastel purple
The signature color of this project is pastel purple. It's not a random shade, but a frozen moment that greets every resident of Karaganda at sunrise and sees them off at sunset. It's during these hours that the sky over the steppe takes on a stunning violet hue — a color only visible in the early morning and with the sun's last rays.
This color recalls the legend of Appak Baizhanov, who discovered "black stones" burning in a fire and gave the world the age of coal. The warmth that coal gives people, warming homes and cities, echoes the warmth of coffee — from the roasting of the beans to the first morning cup.
It's the color of the beginning and end of the day, a symbol of the cyclical nature in which each morning brings new discoveries, and each evening is a reason to stop and feel cozy.
Collaborative development
The CBRB interior isn't just a design, it's a space with a unique concept. It's a collaboration between the Coffee Boom team, the Weroast Unique Design studio, and the Boronshy Asana Serikkazyuly art studio.
Exclusive art objects and installations were created specifically for each project, becoming an integral part of the atmosphere and conveying the spirit and history of Kazakhstan.
Each element of the space is developed individually and exists in only one copy.

Stories behind
CBRB Karaganda
Every installation carries a specific meaning: some tell the legends of the discovery of coffee and charcoal, which are embedded in the project's concept, others are dedicated to coffee, its journey from the plantation to roasting.
There's something in the CBRB Karaganda space that begs to be examined more closely: lanterns reminiscent of miners' lamps — the companions of those who first descended into the coal mines. This image, familiar to every resident of the coal region, has become part of the interior, paying tribute to the industrial character of Karaganda and its pioneers.
Фонарики наполнены обжаренным кофейным зерном — так светильник хранит не только тепло, но и суть самого проекта.
that warm the world
The installation combines two legends: in the center is an engraving of the story of Kaldi and Appak in Kazakh and Russian, flanked by two lilac-pink paintings. One conveys the image of a mountain landscape and the movements of the first coffee discoverers, the other the breath of the Karaganda steppe and the fateful discovery of black stones.
Картины объединяют две легенды в единое визуальное повествование о случайных открытиях, изменивших историю и культуру целых народов.

of the Karaganda area
The interior of CBRB Karaganda features a light console where the city's name appears not in plain text but as a soft silhouette. The letters "KARAGANDA" are read as a blurred outline, evoking morning haze or sunset light and echoing the project's violet-pink color scheme. The contours suggest features of the local landscape — the rolling hills and gentle slopes of the low hills — making the console a subtle, unostentatious sign of the place.

Roasters appears
in the name
Roasters is the name given to projects that roast their own coffee. At CBRB Karaganda, the roaster is located right inside the coffee shop, not in a separate facility. Therefore, the sign at the entrance honestly communicates the place's main feature.
«Мы находим уникальные лоты кофе по всей планете и обжариваем их в CBRB Astana».
origins
A monochrome object reminiscent of an airport board is a counter of kilograms of roasted coffee since the project's launch, and simultaneously a map of the coffee world, listing the countries and lots from which the green beans originate. Thus, the installation becomes a production metric and a visual bridge between the roasting facility and the plantations, allowing visitors to see not only the volume of work but also the geography of each cup.

to your cup
The interior features a genuine jute bag — the very same 30-kilogram packages in which rare, specialty-grade microlots arrive from the plantations, protected by a GrainPro liner from moisture and temperature fluctuations. On the shelf beneath, the grain's journey is engraved in two languages: the story of its transportation echoes the warmth of the roasting, just as coal warms a city. This is how the CBRB team imbued the project with meaning, tradition, and a spirit of discovery.
