CBRB Kostanay
The project is based on the blue color, inspired by the Kostanay flag. The coffee is roasted right in the coffee shop, without barriers or glass. The open kitchen, the industrial character of the city, and unique art installations transform the coffee shop into a multi-sensory laboratory, where the beans make their way from plantation to cup before your very eyes.
There are no boundaries between you, the kitchen and the roasting
CBRB KOSTANAY is a place where coffee and atmosphere are valued: we serve fresh coffee, signature pastries, and rare coffee lots from around the world. You can even see the roasting process in person.
The Coffee Boom Roasters & Bakery format combines a roasting lab, an open kitchen, and a bakery. The industrial interior and art installations create a unique atmosphere — one that invites you to not just drink coffee, but to linger and appreciate the details.

The city
with industrial heart
Kostanay is a city with a strong industrial character, a city of factories and manufacturing, where every element exudes a history of labor and creativity. It is here, among industrial giants, that the energy that drives the region forward is born. Therefore, the CBRB project is a coffee production plant created as a continuation of this industrial DNA: honest, open, and large-scale.
The project's interior is a visual narrative of the coffee bean's journey: from distant plantations to the cup, intertwined with national traditions and culture. Art installations and unique design elements immerse you in an atmosphere where every coffee has its own story.

There are very few projects in the world where you can experience an open coffee roastery. Even in the largest cities, these rare areas are separated from guests by glass. CBRB KOSTANAY will be the first open roastery in the city and will feature a "no boards" concept, eliminating boundaries and allowing guests to be fully involved in the process.
CBRB KOSTANAY is a multi-sensory experience and coffee laboratory where the finest coffees from around the world are roasted. Every nuance of immersion into the world of specialty coffee has been carefully considered in a city that carefully preserves its industrial heritage.
Blue
The signature color of this project is blue, inspired by the city's flag. The combination of bright, saturated blue and azure inspired the Coffee Boom team and formed the basis for the unique design, identity, and semantic code, all of which were created as a one-off project specifically for this CBRB project in Kostanay.
Shades of this color are familiar and recognizable to city residents. They can be found in the name of the Leo Tolstoy Regional Scientific Library, in the appearance of the drama theater, and even in the design of the central stadium. It is this color that greets every visitor to the city.

Equipment, interior and art were developed jointly
The CBRB interior isn't just a design, it's a space with a unique concept. It's a collaboration between the Coffee Boom team, the Weroast Unique Design studio, and the Boronshy Asana Serikkazyuly art studio.
Exclusive art objects and installations were created specifically for each project, becoming an integral part of the atmosphere and conveying the spirit and history of Kazakhstan.
Every element is individually designed and exists in only one copy

Stories behind
CBRB Kostanay
design
CBRB Kostanay's art installations are dedicated to the history and journey of coffee, its diversity and versatility. Together, they create the mood of the space.
dedicated
to Specialty Coffee
At the entrance there is a paired installation: two vertical structures next to a sign in English and Kazakh: “We carefully roast specialty-grade beans.”
This installation is a symbol of the CBRB concept. Here, "Specialty" refers not only to the coffee grade assessed by the SCA, but also to the philosophy of working with the beans: careful selection, a detailed roasting profile, various brewing methods, and completely open processes. The main goal is to immerse you in coffee culture and demonstrate every stage of the process using open equipment. Thus, the phrase at the entrance becomes a manifesto of a careful approach— from farm to cup.
The installation pays respect to the entire concept of CBRB.

of the coffee
roasting process
The "Coffee Roasting Profile" installation deserves special attention. Metal plaques and circles with beans changing color from green to dark brown reveal what's usually hidden inside a roasting machine. It's both an art object and a visualization of how coffee "lives" its life in the drum — from loading with green beans to unloading. 11 minutes and 204°C is the roasting temperature for one of the CBRB lots, and the blue color of this lot references the project's signature color.

The art object is designed in a retro style: instead of pixels, it uses magnetic plates, which the team swaps by hand. In the digital age, this tactile, lively process has a special charm. The kilogram indicator is specially illuminated in the signature blue — it becomes the main visual anchor, and the installation is constantly updated, reflecting the real-life dynamics of production.
The installation has practical value: thanks to it, you can see how much grain has already been roasted in the project.

Roasters appear
in the name
Roasters is the name given to businesses that roast their own coffee. At CBRB Kostanay, the roaster is located right inside the coffee shop, not in a separate facility. Therefore, the sign at the entrance honestly communicates the place's main feature.
A short text in Kazakh and Russian is posted nearby. It outlines the team's approach to coffee.
«Мы находим уникальные лоты кофе по всей планете и обжариваем их в CBRB Astana».
The second-floor art piece is a series of hand-painted V60 coffee cones, created by artist Asan Boronchinov, previously featured in the CBRB project in Astana. The mural intertwines four themes: mountain landscapes, a yurt dome (shanyrak), ornamental patterns, and dynamic sun and arrow symbols, evoking the passage of time. The funnels are not repeated, but grouped according to these motifs, and the bidirectional reading of the images enhances the sense of continuous movement, transforming the installation into a bridge between coffee and Kazakh culture.

countries
Another meaningful detail at CBRB KOSTANAY is an installation highlighting the countries of origin of green coffee. Minimalistic industrial panels list Kenya, Brazil, Peru, and Rwanda, with samples of beans from each region displayed under glass. This allows visitors to not only visualize the geography of their supply but also compare the color, size, and texture of beans from around the world.

Botai culture and the terracotta color, a tribute to pottery and coffee roasting, formed the basis of the project's concept.
